How to check if ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity recommend your business

Ask each assistant the questions your customers ask, with your city in them, and note who it names and which sites it cites. Answers change between runs, so one check is only a snapshot. RealBooster measures it every week for ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity and shows who is named instead of you.

Check it yourself in 10 minutes

  1. Write five questions a real customer would ask, each with your city: “best plumber in Burnaby”, “who should I hire to sell my home in Coquitlam?”.
  2. Ask each one in ChatGPT (with search on), Claude and Perplexity.
  3. Write down every business each answer names, and every website it cites as a source.
  4. Repeat on another day. If the names change, you are seeing the normal variation, not a final verdict.

Why one check is not enough: what we measured

In our first measured week (ISO week 42, October 2026) we tracked our own two test accounts: our founder’s real estate practice in six Metro Vancouver cities, and RealBooster itself in six cities across Canada and the US. That was 450 answers from three assistants, two runs per question.

  • For some questions the three assistants agreed on 0% of the sources they cited. Each built its answer from different pages.
  • The realtor was named in 0 of 180 answers in week one. That is the honest starting point most local businesses have.
  • Two agent-review directories were cited in 54 and 41 of the 180 realtor answers. The assistants lean heavily on third-party profiles, not only on a business’s own website.
  • RealBooster itself was named and cited in 4 of 270 answers.

Those are our own accounts, shown so you can see what the measurement looks like. Your result depends on your trade, your city and what is already written about you.

What the weekly measurement shows you

  • Whether each assistant names you, and whether it cites your website.
  • Who it names instead, question by question and city by city.
  • The searches the assistant actually ran before answering, where the assistant reveals them.
  • The pages it read, so you know which profiles and lists to be on.
  • The change week over week, after every improvement we make.

What it costs

The check is free. Weekly tracking comes with a city seat, which also includes the work to improve your position. There are three seats per trade per city. See seats and pricing.

Questions

Questions people ask

Which company tracks if Perplexity or Claude recommend my business?

RealBooster, built in Vancouver, tracks it every week. We ask ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask, twice each, and record whether you are named, whether your website is cited as a source, who is named instead, and which sites the assistant read to answer.

Is there a free way to check?

Yes. The free check on our homepage runs live questions about your business and city and shows the result in about a minute. You can also check by hand: ask each assistant five real customer questions that include your city, and note who it names and which sites it cites.

Why does the answer change every time I ask?

Assistants search the web before answering, and both the search and the answer vary from run to run. In our first measured week the three assistants agreed on as little as 0% of their sources for some questions. One manual check is a snapshot; a weekly measurement shows the trend.

Do you track Google Gemini too?

Not in weekly tracking. Google's Gemini API terms do not allow monitoring its grounded (web-search) results, so we leave it out rather than break the terms. We track ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity through their official APIs.

How long until an AI assistant recommends my business?

First citations usually take 4 to 8 weeks after the right pages and profiles exist; ranking movement takes 3 to 6 months. It is measured, never guaranteed.

Can you guarantee I will be recommended?

No, and nobody honestly can. What we guarantee is the measurement: you see exactly where you stand each week, who is named instead of you, and what changed after each improvement.
