Google Business Profile owners and managers: how to add someone safely

To add a manager to your Google Business Profile, open business.google.com, go to Business Profile settings, then People and access, select Add, enter their email and choose Manager. Managers can edit the profile and reply to reviews; only owners can add or remove people.

The three roles

  • Primary owner: one per profile. Can transfer primary ownership, and can't leave until it's transferred.
  • Owner: full control, including adding and removing people and removing the profile.
  • Manager: edits business info, hours, services, posts and photos, replies to reviews, and downloads insights, but can't add or remove people or remove the profile.

Add an owner or manager

  1. Open business.google.com.
  2. Select More, then Business Profile settings, then People and access.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Enter the person's email address (they need a Google Account).
  5. Under Access, choose Owner or Manager.
  6. Select Invite. Pending invites show on the People and access page until accepted.

Keep control of your profile

  • Keep the primary owner role yourself, on an account you'll keep for years.
  • Give agencies and staff the Manager role, not Owner.
  • Review People and access every few months and remove anyone who no longer needs it.
